ScoutTrees in Wellington w/Rotary – 25Apr

Once again, the Rotary will be our hosts for Wellington’s ScoutTrees planting.  As it has been for a few years now, it’ll be the last Saturday in April.  Please consider coming out to plant with us this year. Many groups go off and plant by themselves, but please consider the visibility Scouts can have if we all come out to the same place, and plant in uniform!

My contact in the Rotary (Jan Jofriet) sent to me:
This year the date is April 25th, again a Saturday and it is going to be a beautiful sunny day. The planting site this year will again be about 4 ha, 10 acres, 5000 trees, just east of the site where we planted last year, north of that house owned by GRCA on the North side of Conservation Road.  The bus service and parking will be more or less the same as last year except that the shuttle bus from the parking lot will start at 8:30 am. City buses will run from the Square. So for those of you that did not come last year, parking will be at the back of Lakeside Church (do NOT park in the driveway – PLEASE!), and as he says there is a shuttle to the planting site (although it’s not far, you may opt to walk there, it’s nice to ride back after planting). If you’re “Thinking Green”, the bus (free!) to/from downtown is an option too.
Last year’s planting went well, with the Rotary supplying trees, etc., and there was some entertainment and activities around the Guelph Lake centre across the road. I dunno if it’ll be a sunny day for sure, (we’ve planted in the rain, and even snow one year), but it was sunny last year. The Rotary are NOT supplying lunch, so if we want to put that on, we need to do that ourselves. Again, I encourage you to do this as a fund-raiser, as the returns are high. As for pledge forms and crests, I’ll let you know when I know more.
